Masters TV to Launch Motorsports Block
on ION Media Network
Set to premiere May 3, 2008, the block will be anchored by Masters’ Inside Drag Racing (IDR), the
award-winning series covering the world of sportsman drag racing. IDR will continue to showcase
the latest drag racing innovations with the Summit Racing Equipment Performance Tip, the ARP
Quarter Mile Quiz and the NHRA Sportsmen spotlight. IDR production crews will cover the
NMRA/NMCA, Flowmaster ADRL, AA/FA Series, select Junior Drags events, East Coast Drag
Times Hall of Fame weekend, the Million Dollar Race and many more special drag racing events.
Masters will also develop new programs like a series covering car shows, a miscellany of
motorsports events like Sprint cars, monster trucks and tractor pulls, as well as contracting with
other independent production companies interested in tapping this lucrative market.
A true broadcast network with 55 stations located in most of the major markets, the Masters TV
motorsports block will eventually run from 3:00-5:00 PM Eastern to its combined audience of
nearly 94 million homes, then continue for additional hour from 5:00-6:00 PM Eastern exclusively
on their cable and satellite network, constituting over 38 million homes. All programming will get
one showing during the block and one guaranteed repeat.
To promote the new motorsports block, Masters will purchase and air 15 promos a week a full
month leading up to the premiere. They will also be running print ads in all the leading
motorsports titles, and along with several major racing sanctioning bodies, will be sending email
blasts throughout the 2008 season. Additional automotive enthusiast and motorsports related
programming will be announced at a later date.
